Bronx, New York, April 26, 2013, high profile women and men from around the state and beyond are on the top list of guests to officially launch Marie-claire N Kuja’s not-for-profit organization False Labels Global Inc. and her book series, the False Labels Series, on Saturday July 6th 2013 at Holy Rosary Church (Winster Hall) Bronx NY, 10469 from 7pm -2 am.
FaLaGl Inc.was established in 2012 in Bronx NY to combat the timely issue of bullying and its devastating effects in our communities and also to help women and girls worldwide with self-esteem building through education amongst other things. The night dubbed “Don’t Let People Label You” is expected to have community conversation with leaders and panel discussion with authors, teachers and students to find the best possible ways to combat the epidemic so as to create a safe and bully-free world for us and the generation to come.
Bullying in all its forms must stop once and for all. Back in 2012 nurse turned author Marie-claire after receiving a lot of rejection letters from publishers, turned to self publishing and published three books which soon climbed on Amazon Top 100 bestselling lists. Her provocative book series ignites the spirit of advocacy in readers, exploring empowerment, inspiration, bravery, peace of mind, forgiveness and hope. Through her writing, Marie-claire calls for advocacy to start from the home and at personal level.”It’s only in that way we can make peace with ourselves and learn how to accept and embrace our imperfections joyfully, completely and with pride”. She further shares a new vision of what must be done to live an authentic life instead of conforming to other peoples’ expectations of us or trying to fit in the status quo.
She is so delighted that a story like hers, a girl who was once considered an outcast could get so much support from everyone and get women, men and girls identify with it. This is a special night to speak, reflect, fund raise, take, give, hug, network and make a difference. We must instill a new culture of love, forgiveness, peace and harmony in our lives, communities and families.
As a teenage mother and victim of bullying, Marie-claire was not fully aware that there were millions of other women and girls going through similar situations. Once she realized the staggering number of women and girls suffering from bullying and low self-esteem, her anger was evoked to fight and stop the menace, a crime that has cost the lives of so many and leave a handful with very little or no self worth. She didn’t feel emotionally scarred only for herself but for the millions of other girls who remain invisible in the rumbles of death and low self-esteem. She was determined to break her silence and inspire millions across the globe to do the same. Rejection did not enslave her nor kept her a victim of her past, thus rather than stand by and cry over it, she took a self empowerment journey and turned her scars into stars by establishing her organization and is carrying it with passion which is fast becoming an inspiration to many globally, with her messages of empowerment engraved in the pages of her books spreading throughout the world. She with her NGO is making sure the whole world joins her efforts. Her story shows survival, triumph and empowerment of an African girl who refuses to let her life be controlled by others. And that is the story that women and girls and everyone needs to hear, that they can rise above any circumstance of oppression or abuse—That they can triumph.
Marie-claire will read excerpts from her books and answer questions, followed by panel discussions with community leaders, authors and students. The night ends with a fundraiser for the African Girls Self- Esteem and Education Fund, where guests will donate generously to support items like school fees for girls, the manufacturing of affordable reusable sanitary pads for school-going African girls, counseling and empowerment. Guests will have time to be cheered up to music by New York’s best Joe Ndams and personal testimonies from readers. The event is free but generous monetary donations will be highly appreciated.

Not long ago, Marie-claire Nabila Kuja, Founder and CEO of False Labels Global Inc. and author of the False Label Series, heeded to her calling and began to use her gift as an author/inspirational and motivational speaker to do the work God called her to do. She is a passionate speaker in numerous panels and workshops, primarily those devoted to the enhancement of self esteem of young girls and women throughout the world.

We hear so much about the tragic consequences of bullying on television, in the newspapers, magazines and the radio. The lives of uncountable young people have been taken due to the primitive and vicious hands of bullies. We have also heard about the emotional scars that bullying leaves in the lives of its victims and the psychological torture . Very long before “bullying” became a world’s conversation, there were people like Rosemary, Delia,Lisa etc whom we met earlier in part one, who were faced with a gantlet of assault,teasing, taunting, humiliation and sexual harassment. They were denied meaningful parts of their lives, education and social privileges either because they were born with a disability or developed one somewhere in their lives. People treated them as if they are from another planet .But the children who famously were the ones causing others pain were advertised. No one saw any problem in it. The adults didn’t care just as is happening nowadays. They couldn’t be bothered, neither did they notice or actively participated. They could stand right by someone being bullied even to the point of death but will not say a word nor take any action.
In part one we had the opportunity of getting into the lives of thirteen different people who have faced the consequences of bullying in one way or another .We have also met people who carried the effects of bullying into their adulthood and so forth. This volume is a wonderful resource for developing empathetic critical thinking skills that will fortify a new youth culture of kindness and compassion. It’s also an engaging book of short stories that will empower parents and teachers to help kids deal with challenges like peer pressure and bullying. It provides a wonderful opportunity for generating ethical and moral discussions with teens that are faced with so many negative influences of peer pressure, bullying and the media. Two images from my childhood come rushing to mind when I think about the person I am today and why I do what I want to do. Why am I drawn to sharing my story with people all over the world?
The first image was from the first time I was treated like an outcast and told by many that I will never amount to anything. Having a child as a teenager and out of wedlock is wrong but not as bad as to earn me the names I earned. The second image was from the way my son was treated. Not only did people call me useless for having a child out of wedlock, they transferred that unto him and called him a bastard. That was so hurtful and destroying emotionally and completely damaged everything I ever had as self-worth.
Every time that I heard people call my son and I names it reminded me of what I was not. During that period in my life I was uncomfortable, insecure and struggling. I was at war with myself .But one day, so tired of fighting with myself I decided to turn things the other way. I was determined to know why I was created and what my purpose in life is. While on a quest on finding out my purpose I started researching the Bible and other inspirational books. Then I started praying even more. I also started writing to myself ( a journal) . Gradually I noticed my journal was becoming a journey, not just a simple destination. They were real life happening at the moment. I’d completed two to three a week. They were thick and full and ripe with feelings and thoughts. Whenever I was down and read from my journals I felt like an angel was talking to me. It felt so uplifting. My own words became an inspiration to me. I was reminded of how important it is to believe in myself and remember that we are all created unique and special. During this time while I was praying and asking God to make it clear to me why I was on earth, I came to this wonderful self realization. I realized I am a masterpiece carefully handpicked by God. I was not a mistake, nor useless nor a failure nor any of the other names I was called. I also realized I had to be myself.
People around me would read them and said:”Oh! I totally felt this way or I relate so much —-“. I was fascinated with people’s truth, how they were perceived by others and how that didn’t necessarily jibe with what they felt. People would say: “you are so put together” but didn’t know what a struggle my life was. They also didn’t know how apart I was from myself. I wish there was a book like this when I was growing up. I had so many different struggles centered around negative belief system I had formed based on what other people said about me. This is a universal struggle, “I was bullied and called so many names as a teen which left a very lasting scar in my life”, said a school friend who had read my journal. Then I knew I was not alone. But how can we combat this? How can we empower our minds and spirits and the generation to come?
So the idea of having a strong voice became very confronting.
People all have edges but the challenge is not to hide from them. I made a pact to share my story with others because I believe only shared experiences help.
How then do I hope to achieve this dream of having a strong voice?
I wanted my book/message to be available throughout the world and I could achieve that with Amazon.com ,where the book will be available as e-books through the Kindle ,Epub,B&N nook and Smashwords.com to name a few.The book will also be available as a print [ paper format] and be available globally. When I discovered blogging, I thought it was an amazing way to build a platform of people who are interested in taking this trip with me.
There will be a 2-3 weeks Podcast audio interviews with people from all works of life. This is a universal issue. The purpose of the podcast is to share our experiences with people all over the world because only shared experiences help.
There will also be regular blog posts on many aspects of life for instance ,Why we should live and not only exist, celebrate our uniqueness, embrace our own stories, joyfully,completely and with pride amongst other things.
